Yankees’ Offense Stirs to Life With Assist From the Angels

Recently, the Yankees have been struggling to pull out a win. After a five day losing streak, the Yankees managed to pull one out. An article from the New York Times tells us whats been going on and how the Yankees stirred back to life. It tells us that so many injuries have given the Yankees a disadvantage, especially behind the plate, beginning with a bruised thumb from Russell Martin and a possible concussion from Francisco Cervelli. At 40 years old, Jorge Posada went in to catch for the first time this season the night before the win. With not much left to spare, it was up to the 21 year old, Jesus Montero and 22 year old, Austin Romine (who has a brother playing for the Angels) to make their big debut against the Angels.
Managing to keep it a close ball game, the Yankees have also been struggling offensively. In the top of the 7th with the Yankees down by one, Mark Texiera was up with two runners on base. Hitting the ball so high allowed Angels' center fielder, Peter Bourjos to lose sight of the ball in the sun and drop it, scoring two runs. Being a Yankees fan, I am glad they were able to pull it off. At a level as high as this, every run counts, error or not. Even if it was ugly and took a lot of effort, a win is a win and that is what they needed.
